Have I travelled too far? Alone in the twilight

Ancient moonlight reveals a path, curiosities hooks tearing at me

Strange shaped shrooms & shaggy ferns
Low rumbling noises, a involuntary shudder
Black sap drips to a haunting owl’s choir
Deeper & deeper into their lair I go

Through pines I stare, a glimpse of fast moving fur
I found the monstrous creature or did it find me

Violently gnashing teeth, it’s too late to show regret
The last vision I see, a feast I shall be
